There are two types of Chinese characters, traditional and simplified Chinese. For traditional Chinese, people mainly use Cangjei input method. This is also my main Chinese input method as well.
You can also use Pinyin. I sometimes use this because I am currently learning mandarin. It can be used to input both simplified and traditional Chinese characters.
